Whenever Tutubi will travel on official business, he'll accomplish a form for travel insurance with his company's Human Resources Department. There were times however when he simply forgot to file or the trip's too close to be even processed by the insurance company.
Do you really need travel insurance? Is there such a thing as cheap travel insurance? Do you consider getting insured when traveling?
Tutubi's writing about this topic for he's celebrating his fourth birthday. Yes, you got that right. Tutubi considers himself a four-year-old on his second lease in life when he nearly drowned on a deserted Palawan Beach (and where he lost a very close friend). In unexpected times, this is where travel insurance will play a big role. It's a benefit you never want to avail but need in time of an emergency. It's just good that Tutubi and his friends have contacts that made them get their acts together in such an unplanned event.
Accidents, always unwelcome of course, do happen. Local Travel insurance cost of P250.00 can go a long way to avoid experiencing something a Tutubi went through. Insurance companies will shoulder repatriation and other things that went awry in your travel.
Travel Insurance may already be not cheap for most people, but the consequences of not having one when you really need one is too costly to bear.

Can a foreigner visiting the Philippines buy insurance when he arrives? I'm coming in April for a motorcycle tour, but insurance here is around $200+ and I don't want to pay that much!
ReplyDeleteI buy travel insurance when doing international travel. Some may think of it as an additional expense but for me, the benefits give me peace of mind. You'll never know what could happen.
ReplyDeleteHere, you can buy travel insurance from any travel agency and they can give it to you on the same day of application. Sometimes, it can be processed online also.
bertN, begins and ends on the day of your travel itinerary.you supply information on the dates of your travel and where you're going. It's mostly for unexpected events like lost baggage, medical costs/hospitalization for accidents even repatriation in case of death (morbid but you'll never really know). You will also declare on the travel insurance form that you are not going to have medical treatment and also a declaration of your other life insurance policies.I get mine from PhilCharter
ReplyDeleteChyng, yes. his family even had us investigated and wanted to press charges. Was only swayed because twasreally an accident. Someone even kept on sending nasty text messages to us for "killing" our friend or just watched him die...as if it's too easy :(
Bradford, AFAIK, it's ok. it's much cheaper for you're covered only during your domestic travel and not including the foreign travel.
Nina, i was thinking along that line for i want to send my parents on a foreign trip. Honestly, I don't buy travel insurance for personal foreign travel :(

ReplyDeleteI think that a travel insurance is really needed no matter what country you are going to visit. So, do not save you money on your health. It won't take much time and vice versa it will add more safety to your trip.
