About This Blog
Flight chronicles of the backpacker Tutubi, with travelogues, pictures/photos/videos, travel guides, independent and honest reviews, affordable, recommended resorts and hotels (including inns, guesthouses, pension houses, lodges, hostels, condotels, bed and breakfast and other cheap accommodations), commuting guides, routes (sometimes street maps and GPS coordinates/waypoints) and driving directions to answer "how to get there" questions, information and tips on tourism, budget travel and living in Philippines, Exotic Asia and beyond!

Backpacking, independent travel, and flashpacking are cheaper than the "cheapest package tours" and promotional offers around but you can also use travel information for family vacations, even romantic honeymoon destinations.

More than the usual tourist spots and "places to see," this blog advocates heritage conservation, environmental protection, and history awareness for Filipinos, foreigners, and ex-pats wishing to explore Paradise Philippines and Exotic Asia!

Flower pictures and exotic butterfly at Jardin Maria Clara L. Lobregat in Pasonanca Park, Zamboanga City where flowers are in bloom and a butterfly farm is also located

the sign in front of the garden
the gumamela, or hibiscus, incidentally, is the national flower of Malaysia
a lantana, common in exotic butterfly gardens as source of nectar

a black butterfly called Common Mormon (not sure though, have to confirm with local butterfly watching enthusiasts)

Note: Entrance fee to park and the butterfly garden: Free!

All photos taken using Canon 300D either with kit lens or 50mm...

Great macro pictures - breath taking - very exotic flowers for a Norwegian!

I remember I saw some like them when I was in Malaysia long time ago :-)

That butterfly looks pretty spectacular. We don't have any like that over here in little old Belgium, but I saw some nice ones in the south of France some years ago.

wow. zamboanga is one of my dream destinations but there are lots of negativity surrounding the place. i am surely glad that you have proven that these are mere urban legends and a safe place to visit. thanx for sharing.

lawstude, it's safe in Zamboanga City, even felt safer there than some parts of Manila. No "evil" look from people while I was walking with my DSLR. Safety and security is your concern only outside the city.
