Vote for Tubbataha Reef for the New 7 Wonders of Nature

A favorite of the moneyed SCUBA divers in the Philippines, Tubbataha reef has been nominated in the ongoing selection of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

This is a call to all Filipinos or anyone to vote for Tubbataha to be included in the list where the reef is currently struggling at the 30th place.

Tutubi thinks limiting the list to seven still is unfit in these modern times. The old seven wonders of the world, whose only surviving member are the Great Pyramids of Egypt, were selected by ancient men using their understanding of the world known to them and therefore did not include wonders beyond their known world. Seven then was easy, selecting seven now is not!

Tubbataha 101:

Politically part of Cagayancillo, Palawan, Tubbataha Reefs National Marine Park, or simply Tubbataha, is reputedly the Philippines' best dive spot. It was named by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1994 due to the reef's amazing marine biodiversity where you'll find a good variety of invertebrates, reef fishes, soft corals, close encounters with the Tubbataha shark, tip sharks, nurse sharks, turtles, manta rays, hundreds of fish schools, reef rays, and other dazzling marine species. It's composed of two main islands: Tubbataha Island and Bird Island.

Best Time to Dive in Tubbataha: end of March to June (only by liveaboard boats)

The recommended way to dive in Tubbataha is to avail of dive packages from various dive resorts in Puerto Princesa. You may contact resorts listed at Tubbataha Reefs dot org to avail of the best and cheapest dive package.

How to get to Tubbataha, Palawan:

The best way to get there is via Puerto Princesa City served by Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines, and SEAAir. Flight time is around one hour.
