Pangasinan, a province whose name was derived from asin (salt) due to its salt-making industry, more popularly known for its bangus and the Hundred Islands National Park, a cluster of more than a hundred islands off the city of Alaminos in Lingayen Gulf got a brief visit from Tutubi
After the Dagupan bangus overload, a sidetrip to the market for the famed Alaminos longganiza, a so-so lunch at Maxine By The Sea Lodge and Restaurant (not recommended, food is not "pwede na" for the price), a trip to the Hundred Islands National Park for a three-hour boat ride, sadly, due to limited time, weren't able to get wet and wild :(
Pictures as usual:
One of the group's boat anchored on Governor's Island
View of some of the islands on the viewdeck of Governor's Island and in front of Pinoy Big Brother House
the cavernous hole of the so called Cathedral Island (didn't have a lens hood for this one, sorry)
Quezon island teeming with people frolicking on the beach. The island is only one of the three islands with facilities like decks, toilets and picnic sheds. The other two are Governor's Island and Children's Island with bathrooms, camping and sleeping areas.
Quezon Island Bridge to nearby island
A view from inside the cave of Cuenco (PADI) Island. Also a nice camping site.
Quite a crappy picture but it includes one of Tutubi's target destination: the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse
It's also in Hundred Islands and nearby Bolinao where giant clams (Tridacna gigas) can be found.
By the way, the trip, food and even the bangus/longganisa pasalubong were paid for by Tutubi's company :P

Ay naku, eto na nga - ipinost mo na ang Pangasinan adventure mo. hehe.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad - but I personally am not proud of our tourism management in Pangasinan. Needs a lot of improvement, don't you think?
pieterbie, the lighthouse is quite far from the islands so it would be another trip for me.
ReplyDeletecarlotta, good friday ba naman e talaga a dami tao :(
germs, natupad din kasi tagal na rin wish pero i was somehow disappointed :(
baldgyi, just use normal html (the a href= thingie)
rhodora, not only pangasinan but the whole philippines is not being marketed well. i'm thinking of posting a philippine tourims rant na rin. dapat palitan na gobyerno i-privatize na rin :)
I need to escape to a beach right now. But anyway, the photos are good enough to be my imagery beach right now!
ReplyDelete:D
I've a friend who hailed from Dagupan but is staying in the US now.
you should get some freebies from the phils gov't for promoting our well/less travelled tourist spots.
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting my blog.

Island Hopping is great!
ReplyDeleteI love that photo from the cave!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely travel report and with great pics - as always.
ReplyDeleteYou know I've never been there but seeing it through your eyes is very exotic to a Norwegian.
Btw: Thanks for your nice comments on my JazzBrunch post and for your linking - I've updated my blogroll too :D
Nice to know you have heard of our national writer too - have you red something of him?
Hundred Islands is a great destination especially for those who love water and the beach. I wonder if there are interesting places near the Hundred Islands to visit so the trip to this area is sulit.
ReplyDeletekyels, we all need to escape once in a while. i only want it to be too often :)
ReplyDeletenini, the government doesn't care about "low-lifes" like me. all they care about are themselves. The tourism guys, for example, are really too stupid to know how to increase arrivals and more on returning visits
geri, an island-hopping in less than three hours :(
toe, yan din gusto ko picture :)
rennyBA, learn by virtual visitng. hope to visit your part of the world too. I've read about Henrik Ibsen in high school books and some synopsis of his work.
abaniko, not much time available but there are many interesting places in Dagupan to be explored. as rhoda said, government is not doing enough to promote and attract tourists.
I love the sunset in Alaminos. Ganda. It's so tranquil and beautiful watching the sun and the sky turn from yellow to pink to fiery red while set against a canvass of blue sky that slowly morphs into beatiful shades of purple...
ReplyDeleteI want to try the longanisa. I've never had it.
tnx 4 sharin these beautiful fotos of your adventure to Hundred Islands....me and my family (we have 3 kids) are planning to go there, and maybe stay for 3days....will appreciate it very much if you could give us pointers so we will get the most of our summer escapade budgetwise, and is there a guarded parking while we stay in the islands?
ReplyDeletevldr_ph, choose a good family-oriented resort. i'll be going back to Pangasinan soon but i'll be in Lingayen and intend to skip the hundred islands. you can find parking spaces inside the resorts
ReplyDeleteTutubi,

ReplyDeletewhere is the best place to stay overnight in Hundred Islands? my family is planning to go there this coming April and i dont have any idea where we will stay. Please give me suggestions. Thanks and more power!
ReplyDeletepano ba ng parking sa hundred island? safe ba?
ReplyDeletevictoria, you park your cars at resorts or at the marina, there are guards there. just don't leave anything valuable visible inside your vehicles that can attract bukas kotse gangs as in most places.
ReplyDeletehi tutubi, do you know any resort in la union where we can have banana boat and parasailing rides? may i know their contact numbers and names or contact persons? how about jim - one who posted something about parasailing (hundredislandsoceansports.com) by the way, tried visiting that site but cannot get through., do you have his contact number? he said that they will open in la union.
ReplyDeletekudos for your site/blog. everytime i go online and search for my next destination, i always come to a point to read your pointers. thanks.
meimei, sorry but i don't have updated info on la union beach resorts...have yet to fully explore the place
ReplyDeletethank you for your immediate reply.
ReplyDeletehow about contact number of jim? (one who posted something about parasailing in pangasinan - hundred islands)
thanks again. ;)
meimei, sorry but i didn't get in touch with jim as this blog's policy is against sponsored trips so as to remain unbiased...it's a hard decision but it's the best
ReplyDeleteanyway, thanks for informing me. 'til next time.
ReplyDeletebakit po hindi kasama ang marinduque dito?
ReplyDeleteseattle seo, it's simple, i've never been to marinduque thus i have no posts on the province. I've only been to more than half of the philippines' provinces
ReplyDeletedo you recommend to go to hundred islands this december??? thanks!
ReplyDeletehow much po hire ng boats for the island-hopping trip per person sa hundred islands?
ReplyDeletehi tutubi, do you know if we can rent a motorcycle in alaminos? my husband and i were planning to visit the island on december. we are kinda adventurous person..we want to explore some places. specially in bolinao. thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteFYI. That 'lighthouse' isn't the famous Bolinao lighthouse as Bolinao is on the tip/other side of the Pangasinan peninsula, more than 50kms away. Most likely, it is the exhaust tower of the Sual Power Plant, which is nearer the Hundred Islands. http://bit.ly/1DC8sX1
