The first time the Tutubi has been to this amazing green space in fascinating Changi Airport of Singapore was when the Tutubi was en route to Mumbai.
Now again disembarked the Tutubi, flapped his transparent wings, in the gateway to Surprising Singapore.
What differentiates this airport terminal from all the others I've seen is their vibrant, colorful and soothing to the weary eyes of travellers orchid and fern gardens.

Acrostichum: The same kind of ferns that abound in the Sierra Madre; loved them cooked with coconut milk or the delectable fern (pako) salad at Kinabuhayan cafe (Apologies for the obvious use of flash since it's really dark and I don't dabble in Photoshop to tweak my pictures)
The orchid garden offers a serene spot amidst one of the busiest airports in the world

A relaxing spot with a lagoon full of colorful kois (japanese carp) in a tranquil corner of this regional hub
Changi Airport offers free Internet access kiosks, free wi-fi (wireless Internet for those with notebooks), endless shopping opportunities particularly electronics (had my 30GB Ipod video bought here as well as my first digital camera: the Canon Ixus IIs), convenient conveyors, efficient customs and immigration counters and lots of those voluptuous flight attendants of Singapore Airlines.

Wow i been there already before, magandang place sya....! I still have the videos and photos of the place, parang mini-city sa loob ng airport ha-ha....! Anyways, tungkol dun sa tanong mo about hawaiian toads.... I thinks it's the unique sound they produce during rainy seasons that got them their name.... Parang yung rapid drum beats on bamboo poles ba na gamit sa " tahitian dancing ", kaya hawaiian toads ang tawag sa kanila....! Their colors has nothing to do with the pineapples too ha-ha....! =)

singapore airport is my place of transit (also bangkok) in the past 10 years, that i have almost memorized all its nooks and corners. how i love changi airport--so convenient, you could even take a train to go downtown. my favorite nook? SQ first class lounge!
ReplyDeletewhen i have time, i even go to the airport (from hotel) early just to catch those free city tours. i always envy singapore--compare the sad state of our airport.

Nothing beats greenery for relaxation. Yup we have giant ferns in our mountains. I saw some in Mt. Isarog in Bicol. Hm, so ferns are edible, I wonder how they tastes. But there's no surprise that they can tolerate saline soil conditions. Being the early kind of plant, even one of the first land organisms, they must have started growing near the sea.

ReplyDeleteJust got back from Singapore. I was there just for 03 days with my wife and 8 yr old son. Beautiful place, people so kind and sweet specially the lady at the Nandos/near Bugis station. she so helpful guided us how to go to Sentosa and givin us the what color train to take and to transfer. love to go there again
