Bohol: Balicasag Island Dive Resort Review snorkeling
Mention Balicasag Island to me and I remember having to tow Em, who doesn't know how to swim, to the shore but a sad memory also drops when Em lost her snorkeling gear on the beach.
A small island off the coast of Panglao Island with breathtaking dive site, good also for snorkeling. The beach is white but made of small corals and steep after a few meters from the shore and tend to look like a mushroom.
The beach sand is white but not fine, sort of small stones.
There is a marine sanctuary on the island, a government-run resort, and a lighthouse.
Review: Food at the resort is not something to wish for. You may want to eat somewhere else. Tip: Just outside the resort grounds is a small sari-sari store (convenience store) where you can buy snacks at cheap prices.
For cheap dive packages, inquire from local dive tour operatours.
How to get to Balicasag Island, Bohol:
Catch a Flight to Bohol via Tagbilaran Airport or Ferry to Bohol from Cebu, then ride a jeepney to Panglao Island's Alona Beach where the jump-off point to the small island is located. You may rent a boat to take you there. Travel time from Alona is 45 minutes. Distance of about 9 kilometers.
For official website here accommodations and room rates at Balicasag Island Dive Resort.
Near Balicasag Island is Pamilacan Island where whale and dolphin watching tours are available plus the presence of an old Spanish fort.
